I've gone to Smokey Bones for years, but I've never actually had their wings.  Their pulled pork and burgers are amazing and I actually didn't realize they had wings, other than the basic kind for an appetizer.  Smokey Bones has changed quite a bit over the past few years as they have revamped their menu and greatly expanded their drink menu and specials.  Their menu now has four different wing flavors.

Smokey Bones is a typical chain restaurant with general seating, tall bar seating and bar seating.   The bar almost seems like a ski lodge from the inside with a fire place and arm chairs in the corner and exposed wood everywhere.   They have done away with the little speaker boxes you could tune into the TVs with but they still have a massive amount of TVs.  You also really can't miss all of the advertising for the new drink specials, signs outside and in.

We had received a coupon in the mail for $10 off a $20 purchase so we decided to head to Smokey Bones.   We went on a Thursday a little before 7 and the place was completely packed so we decided to sit at the bar.  Courtney pointed out that they had wings so I decided to order some, which weren't cheap, at $8.79 for 8 wings.  I was a little leary, because of the price, but knowing how good their food is in general I figured it was worth a try.  I had a hard time remembering when I've seen a wing that cost more than a dollar a piece.  Courtney ordered a pulled pork platter.  We both ordered Captain and Cokes, which were only $3 as they were part of the daily happy hour.

When the wings came out I was quite shocked.  I haven't seen wings that big in years, since before wing prices spiked.  They could have used a little more sauce though.  They also came with blue cheese, at no charge, which wasn't mentioned or asked of me.  They were cooked to the right crispness even for their size.  8 wings ended up being a bad number as I ended up still being slightly hungry but no where near enough to place another order.  Happy hour ended while we were waiting so we ordered another drink off the special list, which only ran $3.00.  The service throughout our visit was pretty good and everyone was quite friendly.

If you are looking for hot wings, this is not a place for you.  The buffalo are billed as their hot and they are far from it.  The other flavors do sound pretty interesting, but they are all mainly a variation of something you'd see on ribs or pork.  Overall, Smokey Bones is a place worth checking out.

I would definitely suggest going on a Monday for the 50 cent night, especially if they use the same wings.   They also seem to mail coupons out quarterly which is nice and the only reason I would get them at full price.  Their everyday drink specials are extremely good and given the number of TVs it would definitely be a good place to go to watch a game.

Court's Corner - Not Too Hot!

I tried one of Keith's wings and it was ridiculously hot.  I really enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich with the BBQ sauce I put on it.  The smoked salmon also looked and smelled delicious and was two huge pieces.  If you don't want wings I would suggest trying any of their smoked or BBQ meats or sandwiches.
