Overview

I was emailed by one of the proprietors of this establishment through the website about trying out Bistro 42, although at he did not mention he was in the email (pretty smart if you ask me).  We looked at their website first before making the trek out as it is a little ways from St. Matthews and wanted to make sure it would be worth the drive.  The menu looked pretty interesting, although the urbanspoon reviews weren't that good.

Bistro 42 is located in a shopping plaza out in Prospect and has outside seating along with table and bar seating inside.  We have eaten outside both times we visited as the weather has always been nice.   The inside though is fairly quiet and has very much of a restaurant feel to it.

We choose a nice day out so we could enjoy the drive with the top down in the convertible and we would be able to sit outside.  We drove out and we easily able to find the place even though it was in a shopping plaza.  We sat outside and Courtney ordered a glass of wine and I ordered a Bud Light which was only $3.  I had noticed when I looked online and then again on the menu, that the wings were lighted breaded.   I was slightly concerned as wings stated they were lightly breaded, that is not any easy thing to do.   Courtney ordered the Italian Sausage Marinara and I placed a medium order of BBQ.

Conclusion

I ordered another beer while we waited for our food.  Even though we were sitting outside the service was quite good.  Our food came out quite quickly and it looked delicious.  The wings had plenty of sauce on them and came with celery and blue cheese as state on their menu (I accidently started eating before taking a picture, hence why there aren't that many wings in the picture).  After biting in you could tell they were cooked just right and I was slightly surprised by the breading.  There was just enough on it to give it a crunch but it wasn't too filling or chewy.

I tried a bite of Courtney's order; the Italian sausage and the sauce was delicious.   We ended up ordering dessert as I couldn't pass up a place that served cannolis.  The cannoli was fried just right and not too sweet.  We've since been back and I have tried the buffalo which were very good and not too hot.   Bistro 42 is definitely worth a visit for wings or Italian food.

There aren't any wing specials so if you're looking to save some money I would suggest watching for a Groupon.  We used a restaraunt.com gift card during our visit, but I'm not sure they are still accepting them as the owner had said they had an issue with the company.  They have done a Groupon each quarter, which is the limit.

Court's Corner - Not Too Hot!

Their menu boasts about their homemade sausage and marinara sauce so that why I chose the sausage marinara pasta.  The sausage was absolutely amazing, lean and full of flavor.    I would really suggest any of their pasta dishes. If you don't want wings I would suggest trying any of their smoked or BBQ meats or sandwiches.
